Green protection council of Asten

Delos is the only garden room that has been changed substantially in 1969 by the National Trust. Since then all the head gardeners struggle to make this part into a good garden. We have the ambition to give Delos its identity back.
Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson made this north-western part of their gardens into their own version of a rock garden, inspired by the Greek island of Delos. They built ruins of the stones from the Elizabethan mansion that once stood in these grounds. In 1969 all these stones were removed, which made Sissinghurst’s Delos lose its soul. Research is currently underway to discover the original structure and planting, with the aim of changing this now diffuse Delos into its own sparkling self again.
